The easiest river to access - the 'Chuyskiy trakt',
the main road from Novosibirsk to Mongolia is
along the river almost for the whole length.
Chulyshman
The best whitewater
for the whole length, so different and tempting,
a true pearl of Altai.
Bashkaus
Probably the most challenging river in
the area, subject of many stories and legends
Chulcha
Actually, this river is not difficult
in the whole except the 5-km stretch of continuous
waterfalls 10 km before it tributes to Chulyshman.

Arrive Novosibirsk, drive
to Altay Mountains. |
| Day 3 |
Warm up on Chuya river (Class
III..IV-). One-day run, empty boats, road
is along the river. |
| Day 4 |
Warm up in canyons of Upper
Bashkaus river (Class III..IV-). Half-day
run, empty boats, no road along. Drive to
Upper Chulyshman river. |
| Day 4-6 |
Paddle Upper Chulyshman Gorge
(Class IV-V). 3-day self-support run. While
self-supported, roadhead is still few hours
walk away. |
| Day 7 |
Drive to Lower Bashkaus river.
Rest & Relax |
| Day 8 |
Paddle down Lower Bashkaus
river (Class II..III), reaching Lower Gorge.
This day starts a 4(5)-day completely self-support
run. |
| Day 9-11 |
Paddle Lower Bashkaus
Gorge (Class IV+..V). 3(4)-day self-support
run in an almost inaccessible but extremely
impressive and beautiful gorge. |
| Day 12 |
Spare day. |
| Day 13-14 |
Drive back to Novosibirsk.
If there's some spare time and unsatisfied
paddlers, it might be possible to run Upper
Chuya Gorge on the way back (one-day empty
boats run, high volume Class V..V+) |
Cost includes all Guide,
Accommodation, Transport and Food cost during
the Expedition time.
