| Bramhaputra Expedition
The
Tsang Po, born at the Mansarova Lake, enters India
at its far-east fringe, the remote state of Arunachal
Pradesh as the powerful upper Brahmaputra, locally
called the Siang.
A team of 22 people, in 3 expedition
rafts and 5 kayaks will dare to travel 180km on
the Siang, from the inaccessible border village
of Tuting to Pasighat.
The team and equipment will take
3 days to reach the put in – the remote
village of Tuting at the India-China border, covering
a very inaccessible, inhospitable and remote region.
The 370km journey from Dibrughar
to Tuting will be covered by ferry and off-road
vehicles.
The Himalayan Rally
Once
we have collected the group in Dushanbe (Tajik
Capital), we will head out with our Expedition
Truck. Scratching off Valley after valley, we
will have our final run on the Muksu.
This 8 day self support will be
the highlight on this Expedition. From there we
will fly from Dushanbe to Kharog to meet our Truck
again and drive via the newly opened ‘highway’
to China and cut over to Pakistan to make a base
in Gilgit and head for the rivers there.
Our
next trip will get us through Pakistan across
to India and up to Kashmir to explore some rivers
in this now a little bit quieter region. Unfortunately
time/weather will not permit us to drive into
Ladakh but we will keep on driving through the
Indian Himalayas with the odd stop before we are
back to our base in Nepal.
Our Trip will start in Tajikistan
(Dushanbe) on the 25th of August and will last
for about 3 weeks. From there we will drive for
roughly one week before we should be in Pakistan
(this is an adventure by itself, driving over
high mountain passes, including the Karakoroum).
Scheduled arrival (pls be flexible)
in Pakistan should be 30th of September which
then should give us a good time to explore at
least the runs of K2 and Gasherbrum. Again we
have scheduled 3 weeks in Pakistan.
We will then have to build a turbo
into our truck and have to make it for the 26th
of November to join the trip for the Brahmaputra
(separate Itinerary)
From there we should be back in
Kathmandu by 5th of December (we might stick it
out in Sikkim if it is not too cold).
Interested people need to confirm
their participation before 15th of April (for
Tajikistan), as space will allow us only to fit
in 4 people per country (Brahmaputra is different).
All waters will be at a grade IV-V
level and sometimes a bit harder. So being solid
in your boat is a must. You also need to be flexible
with your timing and can’t look at this
from a standard booked tour but join an exploratory
search of whitewater in the Himalayas.
We will take the headaches of getting
you through the bureaucracies, over the mountains
and down the rivers.
